Ashton Nicole Stoyer was born in Memphis, Tennessee on June 27, 1993, the younger of two girls born to Karl and Zoe Stoyer. At the age of four, her dad’s job took the family to northern Germany. Ashton lived in Wewelsfleth for three years attending the local German school where she learned how to read, write and speak in German. When she was seven, her dad’s job brought them to Perry, Florida where Ashton starting her singing experience. When she was just eight years old she started singing contemporary Christian music and old hymns in church. Her mom recognized her natural gift of music and encouraged her to press on to sing to millions of people.
In 2007, at Ashton’s fourteenth birthday party, a tragic boating accident claimed the life of her mother and one of her best friends. Her life was forever changed. Through the pain she found comfort in songwriting. Ashton had begun writing songs at an early age. Her first song was written when she was nine years old, but it wasn’t until after the accident that she really started putting her thoughts to music. Ashton would often grab her guitar, some paper and a pen and write songs on her back porch swing. She would spend hours out there writing and singing. “Music was my escape. It was there for me in a way that no one else could be. Still to this day, the same rings true. Wouldn’t you know the best friend a girl could ever have is her guitar? It’s always there for you... Always.”
At the age of twenty, Ashton moved to Nashville and recorded her debut single, You (A Tribute to Patsy Cline). The single was the realization of her dream to record with music legends who had recorded music on songs with Patsy. The single includes contributions from three Country Music Hall of Fame members, Charlie McCoy, Harold Bradley and Ray Walker.
“I believe in chasing dreams. No matter how many people tell you it is impossible, no matter how many times you fail, you gotta keep chasing them. You never know where they will take you!”
